Salam Aid is run by a small group of volunteers and directors with family roots in Uganda and homes in South Africa. We do not run large offices. Our representatives buy food locally, pay school fees directly to schools and hand over support in person.

What is Salam Aid Charity Organisation (SACO)?
Salam Aid Charity Organisation, often shortened to SACO, is a registered South African non-profit company (CIPC 2025/926986/08) founded by Ugandan-born directors in Johannesburg. We support orphans, students, widows and families in Uganda and South Africa with food, clean water, education, masjid projects and emergency relief.
Is Salam Aid a registered charity?
Yes. Salam Aid Charity Organisation is incorporated as a Non Profit Company in South Africa and registered with SARS for income tax, with an NPO application lodged with the Department of Social Development. Our registration details and directors are published on the transparency page.
How do I donate to a charity in Uganda from South Africa or abroad?
Choose any Uganda appeal on this site, pick an amount in your own currency and pay by card, Instant EFT or SnapScan through PayFast. Our representatives in Kampala and Wakiso buy locally and hand over the help in person, and you receive a receipt by email immediately.
Can I pay my Zakat, Sadaqah or Qurbani through Salam Aid?
Yes. Zakat is recorded separately and given only to eligible recipients with local imams. Sadaqah Jariyah funds water points, masjid repairs and Quran classes, and Qurbani shares are performed in Uganda or South Africa on the days of Eid al-Adha.
Where exactly does Salam Aid work?
Our main work is in Uganda (Kampala, Wakiso and surrounding villages) and South Africa (Johannesburg and Gauteng), where our representatives live. We also pass on emergency support for Gaza, Sudan and other crises through trusted partners when donors ask.
Can I give monthly and get a receipt?
Yes. Monthly gifts from R50 are billed automatically through PayFast and can be cancelled any time from your donor dashboard. Every donation, once-off or monthly, gets an instant PDF receipt by email.
